Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 15, 2026

PageLock (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS application.

Our Core Privacy Principle

PageLock is designed to be private by default. The core functionality of the app — including reading verification, app blocking, and usage tracking — operates entirely on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to external servers.

Information We Do Not Collect

To be clear about what we do not do:

  • We do not access, store, or transmit images from your camera. Reading verification is processed entirely on-device using Apple's on-device text recognition frameworks.
  • We do not track which apps you lock or how often you use them.
  • We do not collect information about what you read.
  • We do not use analytics SDKs that track individual behavior.
  • We do not sell, share, or rent personal information to third parties.

Information We May Collect

We may collect limited, non-personal information in the following contexts:

App Store Transactions

If you make a purchase through the App Store, Apple processes the transaction. We may receive anonymized transaction confirmation data from Apple but do not have access to your payment details.

Support Communications

If you contact us for support via email, we will receive your email address and any information you choose to provide. We use this solely to respond to your inquiry and do not add you to marketing lists.

Crash Reports and Diagnostics

If you opt in through Apple's settings, we may receive anonymized crash reports and diagnostic data through Apple's standard crash reporting. This data does not identify you personally and helps us improve app stability.

Camera Usage

PageLock uses your device's camera exclusively for reading verification — scanning a page from a physical book to confirm reading activity. Camera data is processed in real-time on your device using Apple's Vision framework. No images are stored, transmitted, or retained after the verification is complete.

Screen Time and App Blocking

PageLock uses Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls / Managed Settings frameworks) to block selected apps. This integration operates within Apple's privacy sandbox. We do not have access to your overall Screen Time data, and all app-blocking configurations are stored locally on your device.

Data Storage

All app preferences, lock configurations, and usage data are stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, this data is removed. We do not maintain server-side backups of your app data.

Third-Party Services

PageLock does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only third-party interaction is with Apple's own frameworks and the App Store for purchase processing.

Children's Privacy

PageLock is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove such information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
